No, you boat-misser, no matter the cause for starting the seemingly duplicate organization, the point is to be helping others!! Not bashing others and throwing them under the bus...

Theres a special place in hell, for these predatory tow companies. That being said, they operate like the mafia, cash only, and are in cahoots with all the cops. Drivers get commision as well, so they are extremely aggresive.

As a side not ALWAYS have a dash cam, and ALWAYS record the police.

My minivan got towed.

My fault.

When you live in an area where 50% of parking space is a tow away zone, this is bound to happen sooner or later.

I locate my vehicle through my HondaLink app.

I go down to retrieve my vehicle.

The tow company operator (thinking about the linkedin post he just read to compete on service not on price) says with a very friendly demeaner "$350 cash sir."

Me (who understands that not everything on linkedin applies to everyone) takes out the phone and shows him the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs website stating that private tow companies fees are capped at $125 plus tax.

He (thinking I was born a few hours ago) goes correct, $350 is after tax.

$125 plus tax equals $137.

Needless to say, I told him, if he doesn't want the cops to show up he should release the vehicle for $137, immediately.

He complied (realizing I was born earlier than he initially assumed)
