transferring ultimate rewards points to continental

I read on these forums that you can transfer UR points to Continental and BA. I called Chase to do that and they said I need a Continental credit card (a OnePass account is not enough). Is there any other way I can transfer these points so that I can book a flight from somewhere other than their website? (Ideally I would want to transfer it to a Star Alliance airline...)

Hmm that doesn't sound like the right information. Which card do you have UR points with?

If you have a Sapphire Preferred you can transfer the points to CO and BA.

I have the Freedom. Don't get me started on the reps...I called about 5 times yesterday and each one told me something different...

With the freedom card you will have to either open a Sapphire Preferred or find someone who has one where you can transfer the points to and they can put them in your CO account.

Wait, so if you have UR points on a Freedom card, and you have a Chase Continental card, then you can transfer to Continental without the need for a Sapphire account? If that's true, that's great! Can anyone confirm?

Just transferred a few days ago, all it asked for is my name and OP number and it transferred instantly
