Are you familiar with that area? Most houses that go up for sale for $1m+ in the area (and all the way into old lakewood) are sold to chassidim.

Are all of them wealthy? No. Are many of them wealthy? Yes.

Can't opine on the demographics and area as I have zero knowledge on that but the fact that expensive houses are mostly sold to chassidim isn't that indicative on their wealth, as it is known that those leaving Brooklyn view the term "expensive" totally different, they compare it to what they'd pay in Brooklyn. This has driven house prices up in Monsey/Monroe like crazy.

I wouldn't say it's only them, but they probably make up the majority.

I would guess that there is a big difference between the overnight millionaire (the young nursing home operator or real estate syndicator giverim) and the long-term millionaires who actually worked hard and sacrificed over many years to get to where they are.

It has a lot less to do with economic standing than it does to do with culture. Certain cultures or sub-cultures are more likely to buy take out in general. It's not necessarily the people you think.

I never said they can't be wealthy, all I said is that most Chasidim that buy for the current rates aren't wealthy, it's just the best option they have, so they struggle through it.

IMHO breadberry grocery wasn't overpriced at all, they just didn't carry many basic items, while they had aged meat
