Funny I was just wondering the exact same thing ;)

Seems like just water sports.

I reviewed the Hyatt on DDMS

So is the Hyatt really that bad? Still?

I honestly think that hotels in Aruba are not that upscale. That being said, although the Hyatt is definitely not a category 6 I do think the Hyatt is best option on the island.

Just be aware that there are no balconies which you can sit and relax on, and it might be tough to get a good spot on the beach and pool.

Stayed at the Ritz Carlton and was quite nice. Balconies to sit on and plenty of space by pools and beach. Service was spectacular.

I had a large balcony at the Hyatt.
one of only a few in the whole hotel.
Most of the rooms had tiny balconies.

If one was booking flights to Aruba and the way there was on AA with stopover in Charlotte, and way back was direct to Newark, and had the option of coach one way and business class the other way, which would you choose? The direct flight is a tiny bit more expensive but negligible.

I need these specific flights for when I'm going, but have enough to upgrade one of the 2 ways, just not sure which way to upgrade. Thanks.

Has anyone had any recent experiences at the Ritz-Carlton in Aruba?  The reviews on TA are mixed and don't want to waste my Chase free nights on it if it's not a worthwhile experience.

What is the best way to book flights with miles? I have a ton of Ultimate rewards and SPG miles. I see on awardhacker that flights should be 15k roundtrip. Where can I see availability for that? What airlines should I be looking at?

Has anyone ever stayed at the Aruba Ritz Carlton? We are staying for 6 nights using free nights from the ritz card.

Does anyone know if there is a resort fee at this hotel? How much is it?

Stayed there for a few days 2 years ago. It was a beautiful hotel with great service. I don't recal a resort fee. We did not rent a car since it was a flat $25 to and from the airport and any activities we did, they picked us up. We mostly hung out at the hotel as we had honeymooned there many years before and did lots of touring then. It's become very commercialized. Regarding food, they stored my meals and wanted to charge me $60/ meal to heat and serve. I negotiated them way down to, IIRC $10 as they were doing a service for me. And regarding bringing food in, I used the polar bag and no one stops you at the airport.

Stayed at Marriott Stellaris used Marriott points transferred from SPG. As a gold member and it was 25th anniversary so they upgraded us to a larger room. Service was very good. No problem bringing in the meats. You can always email Chabad they're very helpful and accommodating. We ate Friday night with them. Friday night minyan was at their house. Daily minyan at Playa Linda condos ( I think it moves around). I rented a car for the first 24 hours and my last 24 hours so the cost of a taxi offset my cost of the car and then I used it to cruise around the island. There was no drop-off fee with National Car Rental.
