There have been times I have been saved on the 81 when there is construction, and waze has routed me around that.
I only use waze on familiar routes and to calculate tolls when travelling, when in unfamiliar areas I use google maps as I have found the lane turning assist more clear then waze.
I use Waze for toll calculations, gas stations, and to see traffic hotspots. I don't necessarily follow its guidance on familiar routes. Maybe Google maps lane assist improved, but it once cost me a lot of time by giving me unclear instructions at a fork that wasn't very simple (approaching the Holland tunnel), I have avoided it since for lane assist.
