JCP makeover
« on: January 31, 2012, 09:55:12 PM »
Looks like Ron Johnson the new CEO of JCPenney want to turn jcp into a target-like store, as of 2/1/12. But what i found interesting from an interview here is, that they will have  an 'anytime anywhere' return policy (costco anyone?) lets see how it all plays out.

It's now on there website.
Aside from Costco, the only stores that had unlimited returns where specialty stores like landsend, llbean or upper class stores like brooks brothers and nordstrom. Will this be the start of a new trend in retail shopping?

Your right about that. But this is a first for a general department store.

forgot about them :-[
For brands that sell their own products like Jos Bank, BB landsend etc. it makes sense that they should be more lenient on returns because it's probably not such a loss for them on returned products, a) its their own product so they don't have middle men costs b) they could technically resell them easily by repackaging etc. Department stores on the other hand are selling other company brands, making it more expensive to take back returns.
If this becomes more mainstream its good news for all of us :)

I doubt the named brands repack open/gently used goods and sell at retail.

big stores that have leverage force their suppliers to take back all returns, so they don't really loose much
