It makes a lot of sense for them to find ways to return results when they can’t find anything else that’s meaningful. They probably had lots of this in many languages (apparent gibberish with no results getting searched a lot), and someone there figured it out and added it to the algorithm (maybe just for when there are no results/hits otherwise).

As someone who is constantly switching keyboard languages, this is one of the convenient features of Google. Would be helpful if it also worked the other way.

More likely people typing it in the Chrome address bar, which turns it into a google search.
