Flying to Israel- what card to use, what airline?
« on: June 11, 2008, 09:23:51 PM »
Hey, folks. I am flying to Israel in August for a relative's wedding. I am curious what credit card I should use to book the flight and what frequent flyer program I should use in order to get the best miles.

Please let me know soon as I gotta book the flight in the next day or so.

Shalom,

Baruch

Uncertain. I can pick whatever I want. Any suggestions? I have a Amex Starwoods personal and business, if it means anything.

OK, where are you flying from? Are you paying for the ticket or do you want to use miles?

I am flying from Boston. I am paying. I have 20,000 miles on KLM and almost as many on LAN, tho I am open to which ever airline and card you suggest which can get me the most miles.

Looks like from BOS it's $1480 with 2 Europe stops or $1700 on CO via EWR.
You may want to give Global Tours a call, they have a banner ad with their contact info over at dansdeals.com

If flying CO I would just plow the miles back into CO.

Tho, Dan, what card should I book it with? Should I just use my regular Starwoods or should I use some code or whatever in order to get more miles?

Unless you have an old Continental card that gives 5% off (as I do) then Starwood will be your best bet.

Does CO have a mileage partnership with any other airline? If so, should I have them channel the points into one of them or keep it at CO?

The only Skyteam partner that I would consider to credit to is Alitalia, but I think Continental's long-term future is safer than theirs...

I just created the CO frequent flyer account. I have 0 points in it. Is there any way to move the 20,000 miles I put in KLM over to CO? How about the Cathay Pacific miles?
