Regular rental cars on King David st there is a bunch of rental cars places.

Does it make sense to rent for each day that I need, or would I be better off renting it by the week?

Depending on the season, you can sometimes wait all day to pick up you "reservation"

I rented a car in TLV recently at hertz. The guy asked me for a letter from amex that the rental is covered. I told him c'mon you know it's covered you get this multiple times a day. He responded we need a picture for our records. When he was returned the letter when he was done  I told him to save it for the next guy that doesn't have the letter.

He also told me if you don't have the letter with you you can email it afterwards.

You can email it but before you close out the rental unless you want to fight with them.

Others have moved back in for pickup. I don't recall which, but I several companies on the ground level on Friday

Yes. They're generally pretty expensive, though - 2 cars will usually be cheaper. You won't find a rental that holds more than 9, though. (You officially need a special license to drive a car larger than 9 seats in Israel, so standard rental companies don't really carry them.)

Are you supposed to earn Hertz points from Rentals at TLV or are they excluded from earning points ?
