heat: heating pad, shower,
massage: rub neck and shoulder. circular motion and vertical along muscle.
ibuprofen (motrin) - besides pain relief it relaxes the muscles.

Find the cause.  Was it the pillow, sitting in the car/plane etc, lifting boxes, etc.  And eliminate it rather than exacerbate the neck problem.

good luck and refuah sheleima.

Thanks!

Had it since Friday morning, and been taking Tylenol/Motrin ever since. But once it wares off, it's back. Didn't know that Ibuprofen relaxes the muscles as well. Good to know.

I'll try the massaging and warm shower. Ty.

Away for the weekend, so very possible it's from the pillows.

ETA: I was actually learning a few days ago with the Sefer being on my lap. Makes sense that's the cause...

You’re Jewish, right?
Proudly. :)

the usual- calamine lotion. But also Benadryl cream might help.
Important tip: the clothing you were wearing when you encountered the poison ivy - make sure to wash it. If the oils are left on it, you may touch it again and get a new rash.

@HudZ
I made a mistake.
Ibuprofen doesn't relax the muscles.

It does reduce inflammation, but that may not impact a stiff neck all that much.
Sorry for the mistaken information.

Thanks for reporting back! BH it's almost all gone.

I happened to have been reading somewhere that said, no OTC muscle relaxers are sold, they are by prescription only. However, it does say that Aleve and Ibuprofen do help for that:
Quote
Over-the-Counter Muscle Relaxers
While there aren’t any OTC muscle relaxers, some over-the-counter medications may help treat back pain, spasms, and other conditions that muscle relaxers also help.
NSAIDs: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen (Advil) and naproxen (Aleve) are able to reduce pain and address inflammation, so short-term back pain or muscle spasms may respond to these OTC pain relievers. NSAIDs are also available at higher dosages by prescription.

Wear a cervical collar till it feels better
That will help remind him not to move his neck which is what a cervical collar is for but won't help the underlying issue unless it's cuz he's moving his neck too much...

Google said what many of you said, and it also says this which I don't see here:

Stretching
Gently stretch your neck muscles by turning your neck from side to side, up and down, and from ear to ear. You can also try holding certain positions for 30 seconds, such as low rows, chin tucks, and chest stretches.
THANK YOU HASHEM!!!
