if a closed down all my amex accounts then a few months later opened a new amex, will i be able to get the extended warrantee on a labtop i purchased back with my first amex? or do i have to have an amex open straight thru?

Just filed my second warranty claim within a month and got them both approved.

This one was for 267 dollars on an air con. Did online form and got an email that it was succesful within 24 hours! The first was on a camera for close to 400 dollars, also done online and got resolved within a few days. Can't imagine life withought Amex!!

They were both legit and valid claims, I just wonder if they keep on file all my claims.

I filed a claim for a dell laptop that initially cost $653. was asked to provide a repair estimate, which i provided saying that the laptop is not worth repairing (from a local shop).

couple of days later i got an email asking me to ship them the laptop, but i haven't received any credit back on my card or any communication whether the claim was approved. are they looking to examine the laptop before approving the claim? (its totally done, was dropped while on and the hard drive + motherboard need to be replaced).

i guess i'm wondering whether i really need to send them the laptop to have the claim approved as i read many people stating that they never sent the broken item when requested but still received the refund. If i have to send, do they reimburse the shipping?

I've had amex call me a couple of times to verify the repair estimate that I provided - I think if they feel something doesn't sound right they check or if you write you're replacing the screen they sometimes check if the screen had any physical damage (that's what they asked me on 2 of the estimates I provided).

I am buying a Macbook and Apple is giving me a 1 year warranty. Does Amex give me the 1 year extended warranty with Apple?

I am about to buy a product that I want the Amex warranty on. Question is if I should put it on my card or my wife's. Mine will for sure stay open my wife's really depends on SBS.

Is there any issues with filing multiple claims on one card (say 2-3 a year)? Or is it better to spread the purchases between 2 accounts? All my claims are legit of course I just don't want any hassles.

I don't think that actual card has to still be opened. All you need is to still be an Amex card holder.

Not sure if things have changed at AMEX but so far it hasn't been smooth at all. My laptop died, so I filed a claim and submitted an invoice from the first "Laptop Repair" that popped up in google. Apparently that is no longer good enough and they now would like me to go in person, drop the machine off, pay for another estimate etc etc. I would be more than happy to just ship AMEX the machine but apparently that's not even an option so far. So just a heads up, it seems they've become more of the typical insurance company, lined with red tape.
