So I bought a computer almost 2 years ago on PRG. It's running slowly and gets buggy and annoying. It does work but not to full capacity and is often temperamental and difficult.
What's the deal in regards to AMEX warranty. It was a $900 purchase so I have to assume they'll ask for it back if I file a claim. Does than mean it has to be really broken for them to accept it or will they also accept something that I say just isn't performing optimally. Anybody ever try something like this before?

its just an old computer. If the manufactrurer wouldn't cover it then amex won't. It doesn't hurt to file, but I can't imagine it will be approved.

Depends what you value more. The extra points or peace of mind that you will be covered by Amex for quite some time.

Depends on how you value the miles and how easy it is for you to accumulate them.

I would use Amex.

and how much the laptop costs, and how likely it is to have a problem. more complex means more problems IMHO

Found this in the Return Protection FAQ:

A refund will not be paid if, on the date we receive your Return Protection request any amount on your eligible Card account is past due for one or more billing cycle(s) or your Card is canceled.

And this in the Purchase Protection FAQ

To be eligible for claim payment, your account must be in good standing on the eligible card that maintains the original charge.

But no on word in the Extended Warranty FAQ

There has been some back and forth about it up thread. IIRC it used to be enough to have any Amex open. Now they require that one to be open.

Just wanted to share my experience for readers... I had an item break during amex warranty for a card that I had cancelled and the lady said it wont be covered even though I have other amex accounts (contrary to what I have seen in the past on DDF).  She let us submit the claim anyway and I got an email indicating that we will be receiving a check (hopefully it will happen).  Just another lesson to sometimes ignore the reps and try and file anyway.

This seems to indicate that you would still get it.
