Everything is YMMV. Don't know why you would have called and asked, as now they can have notes about it. I would have just made a new claim. Now it might just look bad...

They denied my second claim on the same item. (I didn't call in, it was just something not so usual so I guess they put 2 and 2 together).

I did not call and ask, I filed a new claim and the claim examiner realized it's for the same item that was denied, and called to let me know the can't handle the claim.

also does the extended warrenty apply to clothing ( suits/slacks) as well? Many suit stores dont really offer a warrenty so how would that work if amex matches the maufacturer warrenty...?

Extended warranty only applies when there is at least a one year warranty iirc

I bought a massive printer from my local Staples, which was advertised as duplex but really isn't. Instead of schlepping it back, can I just simply wait for the return policy to be up and use my Amex return protection (which would make me ship it)?

it should double warranties up to 1 year, so if you have a product that has a 90day warranty Amex will give you 90 extra days. Amex wont give more than an extra year, so if you have a 36month warranty Amex will give you an extra 12 months
