RE Purchase Protection and Return Protection. 
Is there a list of covered cards that can be placed in the wiki (like for extended warranty)?

Do all Amex eligible cards have the same coverage amounts for these two insurances?

Def purchase protection. Warranty would be manufacturer based damage. Depending on cost of watch they may make you go get a repair estimate first.

If I recall correctly, they wanted a reason why I didn't contact manufacturer.

As I posted in the computer troubleshooting thread I dropped my laptop about 6 feet and it seems hard drive is gone. I'm not familiar with replacing a hard drive or/and trying to get the data recovered but what will Amex cover? It's been about 15 months since purchase so I am out of Dell warranty. Would they cover data recovery?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Accidental damage is a different type of coverage than extended warranty, and does not cover it after that much time.

The screen cracked on my Microsoft Surface, and it was purchased just over a year ago. Would Amex extended warranty cover this? If so, is there anything specific to say or not say when making the claim? Better to do over the phone or online?
My recent experience with purchase protection has been that a 15 minute phone call to submit the claim took less time than all of the back and forth emailing, calling and sending documents when I submitted the claim online.
