How new? I recently stayed one night and didn't get free wifi nor 250 starpoints.  Although,  I must say, 4pm checkout was great!
03/01.

The benefits are 4pm late checkout, 50% bonus points, and free wifi or 250 bonus Starpoints even on award stays.  Expect nothing more and you shan't be disappointed.

Although you may get lucky.
Dead Sea gave us discounted costs on the meals, some chocolate and wine in our room, and my wife an upgrade to a suite. YMMV

But going back to the topic at hand
Anyone with recent experience being status matched, or some other form of receiving SPG Gold? My Plat-caused Gold expired after I booked some upcoming nights at the Dead Sea, and I canceled my Plat back in January.

Alternatively, if I flash the rep at the Dead Sea my Gold card, will they take the time to check the expiration date on it?

I never said you won't get lucky, but luck is exactly what it is as it's not deserved or owed to you.
Expect nothing more than what I said and you won't be disappointed.

So what I received isn't offical policy at the Dead Sea? I've heard it from them multiple times.

The discounted meals are for SPG members, nothing to do with your status.

So spg members deserve a discounted meal vs. their other guests, after spending only 2k-3k points per night? LOL

+1 although possibly the hotel get paid the rack rate from the global hyatt. Also it doesn't only refer to SPG award stays.

I stayed in a hotel in Baltimore around 3 weeks ago and got free internet.

If the hotel is 90%+ occupied (or reports that they are) they get compensated at the full rack rate, regardless of what category hotel they are.
Otherwise they probably get about 1cpp I would guess.

1 CPP for C&P? That's peanuts, but I guess it's better than nothing (if occupancy <90%).

Surprised more hotels aren't willing to open up C&P. Sounds like mimah nafshach they come out ahead. Either get paid at rack rate or get something for a room which otherwise would have been empty

Might be why those hotels in Israel left SPG, perhaps they didn't have 90% occupancy much of the time, so award stays weren't bringing in much.

Perhaps they hope to get booked.
