In terms of chinuch, would you fly with your kids in business class?

There was definitely a long thread about this already.

Paid or award?
Domestic or international?
Infants, little children or older children?

Lot of variables here...

I would think the chinuch aspect is the same for the first 2 questions

I think it goes in the same category as other optional luxuries.
They should know they're getting a luxury. And that it's optional for the parent to get it for them.
They should be taught gratefulness.  To their parents. Politeness to the people around them - flight attendants and other passengers.

Critical omission, as that’s literally “the chinuch option”

Can we get yes and no options without exclamation points?

I would probably do it as a one time treat if the opportunity arose. I would not make a habit of it as it then becomes the baseline.

I took my kid to a hockey game for his birthday once, and I got a good deal on glass seats. It was an amazing experience and he still brings it up from time to time. He understood that it was a unique and expensive one-time deal, and he's been to numerous other sporting events in nosebleed seats. Like the rest of us, he's still keen on getting the best seats he can, and there's a bit of wistfulness when he talks about those seats and compares wherever he just was to them. There's always a danger in creating an appetite for luxuries, but if given the right context, I don't think there's anything wrong with providing unique experiences for your children.

I'm not sure I see the point in sitting in J with your wife and making your kids sit in Y. You're clearly telling them there's nothing wrong with J, and you may just be creating a desire without the context by leaving them out.

ETA: That said, I didn't vote. The answer for me is not, "Of course." It's a tentative yes, depending on the circumstances. It's also not something I usually do myself.

I don't see any issue. If you're well to do and in general have luxurious things then this isn't any different. If not, then this is obviously different to them.

(and if necessary explain how luxurious things isn't a contradiction to the purpose of the world/life. If you can't explain it then yes it's a problem not only for chinuch but for you as well)

This isn't going to move the needle in any significant way if there's an ongoing chinuch in the past and will be in the future.

I recently flew with my 6yo and had J availability but decided to fly economy. He's a very perceptive child and would remember every detail of it, I didn't want it to become "a thing" that he flies business. Perhaps for another child I would.
