Here are the pointers.

The Supreme Court is not elected by representatives of the people. They are elected by other Supreme Court justices as well as from the Israel Bar Association.

The Supreme Court has the ultimate say on any law passed in Israel. They govern purely on "feelings", there is no constitution they base rulings on. This means that if the Knesset passes a bill regardless by what % of MK's voting for the bill. The SC can cancel that law/bill by a simple majority and the knesset cannot do anything about it.

The reform bill basically wants to give the elected officials of the Knesset the ability to choose who should be on the SC just like in the USA. They also want to take away the ability of the SC to cancel basic laws. They want to put the power back in the hands of the knesset who are democratically elected by the people.

This terrifies the left in Israel since they know they will never have a majority again in the Knesset. They will always need to rely on people like Lieberman, who although sat with Lapid is generally Right Wing, Gantz as well is Center Right and will also want more right wing judges if it was up to the Knesset. The left in Israel has only one thing preventing a true right wing country. That is the SC and that is why they are fighting until the bitter end.

The rot of the anti-democracy Bolsheviks has reached a new low.

A violent Bolshevik sexually assaults a policewoman trying to clear a protester from the road.

The judge who was asked to issue an arrest warrant claims "it isn't clear that there was actual contact".

The assault:

Update: his detention has been extended to 5 days. His house was searched and explosives and ammunition were found. He previously stole a tank (as in an armored military vehicle) to use in the "protests". Needless to say he wasn't charged then with a crime, nor was his home searched.

In what world would the AG who made the decision no to put forth charges back then not be detained and thoroughly questioned under oath.

The final fight of the Bolsheviks is intensifying, as they keep on losing.

The judges in Netanyahu's trial said that his testimony today would continue until 6pm, due to the fact that he needs to skip a day of testimony.

This morning two people who were in various times involved in PR for the Likud or the PM were arrested in what the Israeli MSM is labeling as Qatargate (claiming Netanyahu's advisors were employed or bribed by Qatar). This has been used by the corrupt lame duck AG as an "excuse" for Netanyahu not being allowed to fire the head of the Shin Bet, since he is the one investigating the affair. Anyone with half a brain sees through the smoke and mirrors, but the NDS crowd is invigorated.

At some point this afternoon police asked to question Netanyahu in regards to "Qatargate", so the testimony in the trial was cut short. The NDS MSM was saying he might be questioned f9r up to 4 hours, but in reality it lasted an hour or less.

In the following interview Gadi Taub interviews Avi Weiss (who is a former ranking police officer - excuse me for bringing unfamiliar with ranks and their translations) who sheds light on the details (as he has previously in various lawfare fights raged by the deep state).

The TL;DL version is that Jonathan Orich and Sruli Einhorn worked as PR consultants for Likud and/or Netanyahu. They might have also worked in the past for Qatar (which isn't considered an enemy country) promoting travel to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup (Something that was also done by Benny Gantz and Naftali Benet at the time FM and PM). Nothing illegal, nefarious, or in any way connected to Netanyahu. On the other hand Weiss lists legal offenses by the AG, by Ronen Bar, Benny Gantz and more.

I guess it was a brilliant move by Netanyahu to say he demands to be questioned immediately as soon as he was asked to schedule time (4 hours) for questioning.

Crazy that the AG has the chutzpah to say that Bibi has a conflict of interest, when it is clear that she is trying to just hold onto her job. Then again, this is Israel, where chutzpah is a feature, not a bug.

Auto translate from Gadi Taub's Telegram channel:

Quote
There is "Qatargate," but it's not what you thought>>

The law prohibits "contact with a foreign agent" (there is no such thing as a "foreign agent").
Simply put, the law says that a "foreign agent" is "a person who had a reasonable basis for suspecting that he was harming state security."
Now,
1. Qatar is a despicable country. But this still does not lead to the conclusion that an American PR person on its behalf is a "person who harms state security," and therefore it was forbidden to have contact with him. Incidentally, many were, as will be explained.
2. If a pro-Qatari American citizen is a "foreign agent," what is the law on the Qataris themselves, with whom many influential and powerful Israelis have been in contact and even did business? According to this approach, those Qataris are certainly "foreign agents who had a reasonable basis for suspecting that their interest was harming state security."

2. So, why were none of the Israelis who did direct business with Qatar, including those in close contact with the security establishment, or members of the kidnapped negotiating team, investigated for the crime of 'contact with a foreign agent', but only Netanyahu's advisors? This is very strange.

3. Even more serious is the investigation into the intimidation of the important journalist. If his contact with the Qataris or someone on their behalf is in the category of "contact with a foreign agent", then apparently the Shin Bet, the police and the prosecutor's office are once again misunderstanding how the free press works in Israel. Because only in dark countries are journalists prohibited from having contact with foreign citizens. Not to mention the fact that there were days when a Hamas spokesman(!) would be interviewed(!) on IDF Radio(!), even though according to the clear law at the time, Hamas was defined as a terrorist organization. It was terrible but not considered a crime. So how did it suddenly happen that contact with an American representative of Qatar became a problem?

4. Also, why is only this specific journalist being investigated? My friend Arad Nir interviewed the Prime Minister of Qatar on Channel 12. According to this (ridiculous) interpretation, is there a more obvious "contact with a foreign agent" than that? Or what about Dr. Yoel Guzansky from the INSS, who is taken from the airport to a hotel in Doha by a Qatari limousine, and whose conclusion, completely unrelated, is that "the calls to boycott Qatar... are unwise and unjust"? Or Alon Pinkas (what does he have to hide that he deleted his account on X?) who he says was in contact with Potlik and whose pro-Qatar posts and tweets are flooding the internet, if anyone bothers to search? Why aren't they and others suspected of "contact with a foreign agent"?

5. The official Israeli policy, supported by the Shin Bet itself and the Mossad, is to protect Qatar's image on the grounds that this evil kingdom can bring in hostages. Qatar is also not defined as an enemy state. So how did contact with it suddenly become a violation of the law?

‏Therefore >>
‏6. What is called "Qatar Gate" is indeed an affair that "smells like a corpse" (Benny Gantz, ibid.). But not because "Netanyahu's people received Qatari money," but because once again the investigative bodies are only investigating the Prime Minister's entourage, and not everyone who was in contact with Qatar. As in the thousands of cases, other people who did exactly the same things are not investigated or charged, because the tunnel-vision system first shoots the arrow and then draws the circle.
‏And it's sickening and annoying.

‏Ariel Kahane

The Israeli law enforcement system would be better named the Israeli Law Violations system.

The Government, which has the explicit exclusive authority to fire the head of the Shin Bet (Israeli version of the KGB) yielded to THIRD-PARTY lawsuits in front of the Israeli Supreme Court barring the government from exercising its right. Rather than suits being summarily dismissed by the court, or government responding that the court has no jurisdiction over the matter, they wasted time arguing, only to have the kangaroo court rule that the dismissal is stayed.

That country is hopeless!

That country is hopeless!

This sounds like you had high expectations and are perhaps too emotionally connected to its political process. Russia is also a rotten and corrupted dictatorship, but what matters to me is that yiddshkeit blossoms and flourishes nowadays there, the clips of Reb Berel Lazar's kehillah and efforts all over Russia is truly warming to watch and to witness what has happened to Jews in Russia in a matter of years, we don't emotionally care about their political system an ounce. Perhaps viewing through that prism should be applied to Israel too. The Mir has hope, the kollelim have hope, frum life is expanding all over and the frum parties will always figure out how to play the game of its political drama to remain solvent iyh. That Bibi is getting mistreated in that jungle isn't something worth crying over.
