This is definitely true, but this viewpoint is a little too optimistic. Who is going to make sure the good remains? Musk? That's not even on his radar. I don't have confidence that this administration is going to be focused on fixing on what breaks as a result of DOGE.
Trimming fat will always hurt a bit in the short term, and that's why historically it never happens. Musk isn't the one deciding to shut any agencies, it's Trump. There will be complaints if anything useful is cut, and in those cases liberals and moderates will react pretty loudly. Even USAID with all the fraud, waste, and self-dealing was not shut fully, they kept on certain pieces they considered useful.
