This might be useful to other Home Assistant users.
I've adapted a Blueprint I found for a Hue remote over ZHA to be disabled on shabbas by using the issue_melacha_in_effect sensor from the Jewish Calendar integration.

I keep the remote on my bedside and this prevents the buttons from doing anything on shabbas when the toddlers get their hands on it.
The concepts should be easy to reuse for other blueprints and automations that may be useful for other use cases such as ensuring sensors don't trigger things or buttons can't be mistakenly pressed.

Keep in mind that it's still preferable to not click the buttons on Shabbos based on my understanding.

Is there a summary or do I need to go through all previous posts to figure out how to "kasher" a Nest and Ring? I turned off the wake on approach setting for the Nest and it looks like I can disable motion sensing via Ring app each shabbat. Anything else I'm not aware of? Technology has really made some things complicated.

for nest there’s a “learning” feature that you can disable too. First, ask your rabbi what is actually required, mine allows the Ring to run.

Still haven't found a rabbi who is well versed in how electronics work and can explain what's permitted and what's a ok if it's the only choice etc.
So far it seems like most say it's preferable not to be triggering anything.

Youre always triggering something just by being out in the public. That’s the reality of this generation. The question becomes what benefit there is to having footage of yourself and the answer is zero. As far as having it to record others for safety isn’t a problem at all is the way I was told…..I believe I posted a long while ago more in depth

Yes, for me it's not a problem.
We're not really makpid on our 2 year old not doing melacha but I don't want him turning lights on Friday night and being stuck for the rest of shabbas

Is it mandatory to disable the "learning" feature? My ring doesn't record the footage (I don't have a subscription) so as long as I turn off the motion sensing I'm okay?

I disabled standby mode and lowered brightness. I'm now missing out on a clock and outside temperature, nu nu.

Did the Ecobee Premium end up working out for your with Shabbas? Did you put foil to disable sensor? I just bought one myself and would be interested in hearing a follow-up. Thank you

Nothing worked have. My display is always on.

I just set up an Ecobee Premium. After fiddling with it, I seem to have Standby mode totally disabled so that the screen is just always on as if you just woke it up. This seems perfectly fine to me.

Of course the device is always detecting presence, and in theory you can see in the app whether it detected someone. But I'm not sure if that is such a big deal as long as you don't open your phone on Shabbos. It was easy to turn off all the smart features based on the presence sensors.

Any suggestions for a smart electric heater. Govee were recalled in US and I can't purchase another one. Dreo are rather pricey.
