What basic cell phone plan?

I am looking for a new cell phone plan. 
I currently have Verizon 700 minutes and unlimited texts, free nights and weekends 2 phones for $99.
Not a great deal.  Does anyone know of a better deal for similar minutes and texts (no data)?

Its been discussed as zeeeeks said prepaid is the best way to go for example you can get page plus cellular for $30 a month you get 1200 minutes and 3000 texts or 40 dollars a month unlimited talk and text
And you can keep your current verizon phone (unless it's a iphone)
