Fee Free Amex Gift Cards

I just received an email offer from AAA that you can save the $4.95 for every Amex Gift card that you purchase.  I'm assuming this can be used like the coin offer to accrue miles.

I was wondering the same thing, if buying a $1,000 gift card would count as my spending for my 100,000 bonus MR promo I just signed up for (platinum card).

Anyone? Would it count as a cash advance maybe?

Just called up my local AAA.
If you use a credit card for Travelers Cheques it will go through as a cash advance.
If anyone wants to set cash advance to $0 and let us know what happens that would be great!

i've done this before w/ gift checks - i'll check later what it showed up as

i read somewhere it might only be amex that doesnt give points.

btw the gift cards are (or were) fee free just by going to the amex website.

& we spoke about this before in another thread - order gift cards worth $2500 ($2512 if you rush the shipping) and get coins

I don't get it? Why not just by the coins directly with the credit card and save the shipping fee on the GC? What does the GC get you?

I think the coins are tracked by name and email, not by credit card.

it might only be considered a cash advance one an amex card. But if you but them on a MC or VISA then it would proablyy go through as a charge
