With all the threats from Trump, why run to such a seemingly bad deal? is it all political? (most of it political I understand)

As far as I understand (based on Israeli news), Trumps administration is putting lots of pressure to have a deal in place before he assumes office.

The biggest lie is when they say the IDF will know how to deal with the aftermath. Giving terrorists massive incentive/leverabge to take hostages (this has progressively increased in Israel's history) and then suggesting that the same security establishment that failed to prevent these 250+ hostages being taken will prevent future hostage kidnappings simply doesn't hold up.

Pressure on Israel too. We have to hope and pray that Trump's interests align with Israel's, becasue he's a much bigger and badder bulldozer than Biden and Co.

No idea what you mean by day 1. There was a hostage truce on November 2023 at much more favorable terms. Since then Hamas has insisted on international assurances the war ends, h*ck, they might still come back with a response that they insist on this today, in which case the deal about which Trump says there was already a handshake blows up.

From what I'm hearing the deal on the table isn't just for live hostages, becasue the starting point is the list of 33 humanitarian names that were on that list for a while. This bothers me a lot.

The deal should at very least stipulate that for every hostage on that list that isn't alive they have to release another live hostage. Israel can't just allow substitutions or Hamas will get to choose who to keep and (for instance) the female soldiers.

Those had obvious incentives. There has to be some incentive for Netanyahu to be doing this deal
