David Intercontinental Tel Aviv
« on: February 08, 2012, 07:10:43 PM »
Wondering if any of you have stayed here recently....condition of rooms (standard, executive, club), pool, facilities, etc.  Any insight would be appreciated.  Read the reviews on TripAdvisor, and looking for some real color from the DDF crowd.  Thanks in advance.

sent my sister there and she loved the hotel!!!!!
costs 40k of priority reward (which is about $200 a night)
she got upgraded to a suite and it was an awesome experience!
it CAN be done!

They're part of Amex fine hotel & resorts so if you book through the platinum travel service you'll get some kind of additional amenity

Ashers & stever - thanks for the feedback.  PlatimumGuy and moish, thanks for the tips.  The fact that nobody was moved to say something negative is a pretty good sign.  Anyone have any other feedback, keep it coming.

Curious if anyone had the pleasure of being in a "Club Room" versus an "Executive Room", with access to the two different lounges those rooms come with (Club Lounge on the top floor, or Executive Lounge on the lobby level).

the hotel is fine.

i have only stayed there on shabbos and didnt appreciate that they werent too sensitive to my religious needs.

but thats not a problem specific to this hotel. i think all hotels in tel aviv are like that

I don't know what your requirments are but I'd prefer stay in Hertzalia which is a upscale beach neighborhood. The Daniel is the nice hotel there, although the indoor amenities at the IC are probably nicer. I have been ther for shabbos years ago & there was no issue w late check out, they also have shabbos keys & an in house active shul. (Nusach edus hamizrach)

Thanks...I stayed at the Daniel on my last trip to the coast there.  It's getting pretty tired IMHO...it was pretty tired when I last stayed there five years ago, and I understand nothing has changed.  Location - that part of the beach (Daniel) is much nicer and quieter, and the area is upscale and quite nice, but at the same time there is nothing at all to do in walking distance from the property.

Lots of complaints on TripAdvisor about pricey WiFi ($22/day).  Is it free in the Club Lounge?

AFAIR yes

My gut tells me you would remember $22/day (ouch).  Thanks.

Thanks again.  Room near the pool is the Executive Lounge...can access it if your staying in an Executive Room or a Club Room (as opposed to Club Lounge upstairs, which is only accessible if you are staying in a Club Room).  Good to hear that lounge has good things as well.  Overall, sounds like a nice place (at least for Tel Aviv, which basically has universally lower standards than elsewhere in Israel or the world).  I've been to the Hilton more recently, and if that's the "nicest" TA has to offer....

Incidentally, Ritz Carlton coming to Herziliya by next summer...that will be the nicest place on the coast (by far!).
