What's the point of having a kosher sim if you want to use it in a non-kosher phone anyways?

A Kosher Sim just blocks Data, SMS, and a lot of hotlines. A kosher phone disables most of the phones features e.g. camera, Bluetooth, etc., and costs much more...

and phones are getting harder to kasher as they get more complex.  Options for quality kosher phones are dwindling and the ones you can find are  exorbitant. The size of the market apparently does not justify the manufacture of 'lechatchila' kosher phones.

Its a 3g with a great screen. But regardless, unfiltered internet is unfiltered internet, whether its an inch or a yard. Besides, the Rabbanim said no internet on phones, so that is that. My phone cant even block the browser.

I'm in Israel now and traveling to the US and Canada for a month+. I looked into a prepaid and the best I found was at&t 50$ a month and $25 for the Sim card.
I'm thinking of getting Golan with a us number that works in the us and can. Does anyone know who Golan roams on there, how is the service and prices?

Should not cost that much, a prepaid tmobile plan for a month should work for you in america and canada with text, calls and data.
 Now the more high speed data you want the more you pay.
 Look into a simple prepaid plan.
    Or find a member on ddf willing to add you to their plan which should cost $10 and more.. for example the plan I'm on is around 14-15 a month and the sim can be found for $5 or $0.99 on ebay or amazon.
 Yes I'm on someone's plan and not the first time, so can't really bother them to add someone, but if I was the account holder would definitely add you.
 I know T-mobile allows everything you can do in the US to be done in Canada, not sure about other carriers, I do know that sprint has text and data abroad not sure if in Canada the talking works as well? (again GV works everywhere..)

There's a thread for sim card rentals. Which might be your best option or go into any store in israel and open a sim card, for example golan or hot mobile and you will need to pay 19 shekal for a sim and then 20 shekal or so for activation and then 29 shekal for the plan, unless you find someone on the forum who has one available for use, that way you don't have to activate nor be busy canceling any phone plans.

First number after the "area code (provider) " will be a 3

So for Golan it'll be 058-3xx-xxxx or for hot mobile 053-3xx-xxxx

There are ways around it, not sure how.

To answer my own question, the phone will stay flashed once it is kosherized will stay koshrized, can confirm by making the IMEI starts with one of the numbers on this list:
