For some Times readers — or, as often, former readers — the answer is clear: The Times has a longstanding Jewish problem, dating back to World War II, when it mostly buried news about the Holocaust, and continuing into the present day in the form of intensely adversarial coverage of Israel. The criticism goes double when it comes to the editorial pages, whose overall approach toward the Jewish state tends to range, with some notable exceptions, from tut-tutting disappointment to thunderous condemnation.

FTFY. When quoting from the article you should include quotation marks.

Kudos to Vanguard for figuring out this loophole. One drawback of Mutual Funds (in taxable accounts) is that one can owe capital gains even when one is losing money. This technique almost ensures that an investor will only get taxed on gains if he cashed out at a gain.

This is especially true considering fund managers tend to only sell positions with gains and hold on to the positions that have lost value until they reverse back to a profit. The result is paying taxes on realized gains and not getting (much) offset by realized losses. For example last year the S&P was down 6% yet many of the actively managed large cap mutual funds clients were on the hook for 7% in realized capitol gains.

worth noting that the fees of most Vanguard ETFs are now cheaper than their corresponding Admiral Shares (mutual funds).

What does this part say about the writer?

Quote
Marx argued that commodities—or products meant to satisfy “wants”—don’t derive their value from their use. That’s because by definition, they aren’t necessary for basic survival. Rather, they derive value from the invisible labor that goes into making them. Apple’s products take value from dirt, blood, sweat, and tears you don’t see on its clean, white packaging. They take value from human aches, pains, and fatigue.

Commodities like AirPods are social products. AirPods display the social message of wealth because AirPods derive their value from the invisible, social chain of production that’s necessary to make them in the first place.
