That's a huge distortion of the Gemara,
The gemara discusses in two (at least) places if a person sees that he's being overcome with temptation he should wear black and travel to another city and do it privately there so as not to disgrace the name of god - the understanding of that is that by the time the person gets to the other town sees himself wearing black and understands what he's about to do he will surely refrain from doing the deed (BTW not necessarily sex)

I don't think that the majority of the people going to Uman who end up having sex are going specifically for the prostitutes and even the ones that are, they definitely are not doing it in the way the Gemara says to.

No need to convert, though there used to be a Polish convert on DDF who might have been able to give you tips, no idea what happened to him...

And thats precisely why it was made into front page news. When the press knows something is taboo and someone says a statement like that you can be sure it will be published with a splash.

If you dont want to watch porn, then you shouldn't read this article either.
