Only thing I see in her favor is pass practice. If that same past practice wasn't extended to all religions IMHO she does not have a case.

I am also an exception from my mother's side.

Within the frum community coming with wealth was extremely rare.

There is a divide within all groups. I doubt the divide within the frum community has any correlation to wealth brought with the immigrant.

Malcolm Gladwell in "Outliers" has a section on a study done with people going in to car dealerships to get quoted on cars.  IIRC they were all 20-30, dressed well and presented themselves as college educated young professionals.  Men consistently got an initial quote lower than woman and whites lower than blacks.  Even after negotiation, those relationships remained true.

How is that even legal? Where is the Federal Trade Commission? I know its time honored tradition etc. People in different markets get different prices too. MSRP is never a starting point. Invoice is. And even Invoice is a scam number.

I guess that's why they have MSRP, to make it all legal. I doubt anyone pays above MSRP, it's just how much one was able to bargain down. The other point is being able to customize the order, and up-sell additional profit centers.

It's one big psychological game, and the successful salespeople are those who know the game well, and how to apply it (differently) towards different audiences. They make the buying an emotional decision, and then help justify that decision with logic where needed. And THAT is why there are differences between the various demographics.

There were times the Corvette, Camaro and some foreign cars went for over MSRP.
