@ScottAdamsSays has recently been taking on the issue of climate change. He's not taken a side, but claims that each side sounds reasonable, and that the contrarians are more persuasive.

So when the news came today about 2016 being the hottest year on record, I searched and searched for a contrarian opinion, and couldn't find until Scott retweeted one.

Think it's persuasive?

Until the climate scientists get out of their echo chamber I don't see why it's worth worrying about the sky falling.

Ah the rationalists...the liberal elite of the Orthodox world.
All that either succeed in doing other than savoring their own indignance is to create what must now be referred to as the "Trump Effect." Keep pulling on the Chinese finger trap, boys. It's bound to loosen up eventually if you pull hard enough.

The tone of the article (especially at the end) is a bit over the top...
The whole website is oozing and dripping with kefirah and rishus. Shouldn't be read at all.

I fully understand and just having some fun. I said before I have to meet her Rabbi. If he will give me an exemption to be able to eat lobster I would sign up tomorrow.  :)
My halachic ruling is that you may eat lobster.

According to DJT they'll all (children and grandchildren) be staying in the White House Friday night.  I can't imagine the White House is Shabbos proof.

makes sense to stay there. That's probably one of the most genuine and kept up pre-1800 buildings in the USA.

Their private residence rooms and wings can mostly be manual lock and key. They are 100% permitted to allow the doorman to walk them in and out from indoors to outdoors, and vice versa.

The one issue on Shabbos that is unavoidable are the dozens of security cameras. Guess what: Almost all Chabad Houses and shuls, schools (they hold Shabbat services and programs in many cities), and private cameras on the residential streets have these running 24/7. They are everywhere... Same here.

It's on the previous page! Just click back. But here, I'll save you the effort.

Right, my question was in agreement with and a direct response to that. Maybe I'm too dense to understand.

Why not?

The rambam was a rationalist as well.  Not bad company.
Right. - He was a modern orthodox rational physician who participated in art and culture, as well as writing the Rambam.

Do realize how totally insane this is? I bet you don't. How sad.

What about someone turning a light on or off in a room they are in. Does that cause a problem?

There are plenty of shabbos goys around though.

So just take my Chinese finger trap analogy and flip it. (They had those in ZA growing up?)

How about Lawry's Prime Rib or is that pushing it.  :)
Note to self: make reservations for Lawry's as it has been months.

someone else is allowed to turn on and off lights, to wash the dishes, etc... Especially if they are not directly requesting them to do so.

(Ideal if this is not done in public, and also people are not allowed to cook for them. Almost all other "shabbos work" can be done for them by other people. The spirit of Shabbos is what can be at question, here -- however outright law would say that it's better to stay at the White House overnight than to drive home/be driven home.

Of course if a new unexpected, unplanned emergency suddenly came up, then they could drive/be driven, if needed. (That would apply to the Rabbi, as well.)

it is allowed in most cases if the person doing it is not jewish and if nobody specifically asked them to do it.

In case this wasn't clear from clicking there, it's Slifkin's blog. Par for the course for him.

I don't remember all the details, but I believe there are some major components of the heter/kula that may not apply in the white house, where a) the data is likely stored fairly long term and b) the feeds are constantly monitored by security personnel.
