I am not saying that the Taxi medallion business model is right,

that's gotta be the understatement of the year.
The NYC medallion system is legalized racketeering. I can't see it making sense in any universe, to pay a million dollars for the privilege to drive/own a taxi. It defies the law of supply and demand.

You mean to say that because of the laws of supply and demand, NYC taxi medallions reached values in excess of $1MM, and came tumbling as Uber and Lyft came into the market.

But the supply was artificially inflated to fill the city coffers. Imagine if the Federal government said there can only be 2 investment brokers to supply the country and for that privilege they will pay 1Trillion per year. The fees that you are so excited are going down would be way higher.

You probably mean to say that the supply was artificially LIMITED. Which is what I pointed out when I said that BECAUSE of laws of supply and demand, prices reached a high of over $1MM, and came tumbling in recent years.

See: http://www.odwyerpr.com/story/public/6471/2016-03-08/uber-lyft-cut-new-york-city-cab-medallion-price-half.html

And for historical prices you can browse around here and look at transfer prices month by month going back to 2009

Is there a difference in taste?
Some people swear by it. They claim it's significant.

Definitely.

Don't you think cane sugar tastes different than high fructose corn syrup?

I don't drink any of these, but I can tell you that sweet isn't just one flavor!

Yes but in Mexico there does not seem to be a difference in the taste.

There is a significant difference in not just taste but texture as well. I personally prefer year round Coke

It's all a matter of what you're used to. Once you get used to one, the other tastes "different". I get so many Israelis coming here saying that they don't like the taste of NY tap water. You get the same the other way around. After one gets used to one, the other doesn't taste right.

Far more NY'ers drink tap water than Israelis.
I would go as far as saying its a fact that NY water tastes better.
Israeli water is undrinkable.

Here's a real fact. Taste is an opinion and cannot be a fact.
And to say it is undrinkable is definitely far from the truth.

I would venture to say that the vast majority of Israelis drink tap water.  We do and most of us are Israeli ;D

I think a larger % of Israelis drink tap water as opposed to bottled water, than the % of NYers that do the same (though home mini water coolers, that might have filtration are more popular in Israel than in NY).

While I think my taste buds are very discerning, I drink tap water both in NY and in Israel (though I mostly drink Seltzer, and good Seltzer is hard to come by in Israel, and the small bottles are outrageously expensive for the small volume).
