I'm not even going to bother responding to everything you said, you're being close-minded and stupid if you're going to nit pick like that. It's a non-Jewish article, how intricate do you think their knowledge goes?
I love how frum Jews like to get mad about how wrong the regular media gets all of our "traditions" and such, and then go take everything they write about other cultures and religions as fact. If they're getting so much wrong about us, do you really think they're getting everything else right?
Putting aside the gratuitous insult, I didn't mention the areas where they made mistakes. I could make a case for the fact that a journalist is expected to perform due diligence and make sure he knows what the hell he's talking about, but that's a separate argument. I specifically did NOT mention that, or talk about expecting that - the points I made were areas where the article was explicitly condescending to the torah or orthodox viewpoint.
For example: Hm, I don't understand why the torah uses two names for different part of the holiday...I'll just say that they were 2 different holidays that have no been combined into one.
This is not simply a mistake, it's taking a misunderstanding, calling it confuision on the part of the Torah, and then deciding to give your own answer to it.
Comparable to showing up the first days of an advanced physics class, deciding that based on your lack of understanding, two concepts contradict each other, and then coming up with a solution that makes sense to you...but isn't based on any more knowledge than you started out with...when you're sitting in a classroom full of advanced physics students you could just ask.
