Dear guests of The Camping Trip 2018,
This message is coming from Chani Halberstam and Yehudis (Jude) Keller, the organizers of this event. We decided to be completely transparent with you as to what happened on Friday, July 27. Here is a little background:
Three weeks ago, we got called to help plan the event. We knew there were legal struggles, but were assured that permits were being finalized and that The Camping Trip would legally operate. Those legal things were never taken care of. Permits were not issued, and the property owner was prohibited from any musical production, food vending, ticket selling, promoting, or mass parking on his property. This was a Supreme Court Order, and the property owner chose not to tell us, the event organizers, or anyone else that the event was illegal. There is no money for refunds, or to pay artists, vendors, and staff who were lied to.
We are so sorry. We promoted this event. We sold you expensive tickets. We hired you. We promised you The Camping Trip Shabbat and music festival. We are so sorry this happened to you.
This is the end of The Camping Trip. Thank you for being supportive throughout the years and giving it a legacy. The Camping Trip’s goal was to bring Jews together for a beautiful Shabbat and music experience.
Thank you and we hope you understand.
