The state’s interest in expanding the deposit law is not purely environmental. For every deposit container that is not redeemed, the state seizes 4 cents of the unclaimed 5-cent deposit. The state already rakes in $100 million a year this way and would make many millions more if the law were expanded.
I’m not sure the current status of this, but apparently back in the day there was one United route in particular where the airline completely changed up their algorithm for releasing award space, due to mileage brokers booking refundable seats, and then canceling last minute to book their clients awards.

It's a pervasive and obvious hypocrisy. The Maccabiah Games. How many soccer teams are named Maccabi? It's only his complete lack of a Jewish Education that made it novel to him. And it is very sad and unfortunate, though completely predictable, that he drew the conclusion he did.
