Call it what you want.  College, high school,  yeshiva.  Is there some kind of end that happens when boys are about 18 years old?

Is it that hard to figure out how many 20-year-old boys and girls there are right now?

Selective abortion explains the much higher male births in countries like China, but is not that common in the US.  (Selective infanticide has also been suggested to occur there.)

More male than female births has been found historically in the US as well, before selective abortion was an option.  It can be influenced by external factors, such as stress, wartime, poor nutrition, which can lead to fetal death.  I think the male fetus is more sensitive to these, and that more females are born under these conditions, but I haven't looked into that.  GIYF.

In any event, it seems to me that the numbers graduating high school would be more useful and shouldn't be that hard to come by.

For girls it should be easy, boys yeshivas on OTOH is much more difficult and most likely impossible. Girls from Lakewood will go to HS in Lakewood with very few exceptions, with boys it's not the case. Graduating elementary school is probably the best you can possibly get.

Honestly, a tremendous part of the issue is the massive percentage of girls who literally cannot get a date. What’s up with that?

Step #1 to fix that is to eliminate pictures from resumes IMO.

If right now all singles married someone their own age, I don't see how that would strand thousands of 'extra' girls.  Many of the unmarried boys are their age. 
The new rule could be that the boy may be up to 1 year older than the girl.  Doesn't preclude him being younger than her.

As an aside, without any data to back this up, I would wager more than half the "nos" that are based on looks come from the bochur's mother and not the bochur himself.

They likely are the majority, and even more importantly that's when it's more likely to be problematic.

I'm not going to rehash the whole discussion here for a third time, but as I've said before my rebbi told me to always "see her before going out".

Then it'll be straight money instead of looks. People getting a pile of papers go for the most enticing looking. Pictures are a symptom, not a cause.

A census is obviously the correct way to get the data we'd need (if we wanted to do proper analysis). Either at the shul/family level or narrowed to just the high school/post-high school numbers.

But no such thing will be undertaken, even if there was motivation to do so, because all it would show is the enormously fractured and selective nature of frum society. No true Scotsman taken to the exponential level. Which would underscore one of the major contributing factors of the crisis
