Emirates EWR>ATH then LY to TLV
« on: March 17, 2025, 11:42:34 AM »
Anyone do this route? I'm only considering it because I've never flown Emirates business or first class and I see they have some dates with decent redemptions.. is it worthwhile vs just flying direct EWR>TLV? I know it's a subjective question, just curious about peoples thoughts & feedback.

There are PLENTY of flights between ATH and TLV. Probably the most served route.

Aegean (code share with Emirates)
ELAL
Israir
Arkia
Bluebird
WizzAir
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Didn't try. There are by far less MXP-TLV flights compared to ATH-TLV.

I did fly DD in Y MXP-JFK (and LY TLV-MXP) which is a bargain when saver is available. This was after realizing that her revenue return flight from TLV was mistakenly booked for today, rather than Feb 18.

Is the premium for F over J worth it for a Kosher traveller for a flight of this duration (which is either followed or preceeded by a 4 hour LY Economy flight?)

A shower on a flight is pretty exhilarating and the 380 suite is excellent.

So you're saying that for the 380 it's worth it but not other aircraft?

The question is for what length of flight is the premium justified? I booked DW in F EWR-ATH simply because J wasn't available.

A JFK flight vs EWR flight is also worth a premium for me. But it boils down to the overall combination of availability and connections. All of those take precedence over an in-flight shower.

EWR-ATH flight was delayed due to a snow storm. The availability of many ATH-TLV flights definitely helped. Especially where I was able to book some on Priceline and get full refund if schedule didn't work.

I booked from EWR because the miles redemption was much lower than from JFK..and from what I understand the new 777 f and j are just as nice as the 380 (I don't care about shower or bar.)
