This is a cash trip flying out of Baltimore (but not limited to that).  Looking to go the week before Pesach (4/4)
and return the week after (4/15).

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.

I couldn't find the proper thread to post in so I'm posting here.
I'd like to purchase 2 coach tickets to Eretz yisroel and use points to upgrade to business class.
I have 100k membership rewards points.

I have no idea how this works. (E.g. what type of ticket do I purchase [which class] ? , how do I do the upgrade? Which airline should I use? )    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx for offering.  I'm not quite ready to book. I'm just trying to figure out if I need more points/need to open more credit cards. And if I do I'm wondering which ones to do.

If say for example continental would be my best option for what I'm trying to do, I would apply for a continental card. Etc.

Does the upgrade need to be done by a TA, or can I do myself?

If you're looking for tickets to Israel for Pesach:

1. It's probably too late to be applying for CCs.
2. Unless you already have miles, you probably won't get enough miles for all your tickets from one (or even a few apps)
3. You'll have a hard time finding award availability at decent rates.

I guess my original post wasn't clear

1) I plan on going some time after pesach.
2) I plan on paying for the ticket and using points to upgrade to business class. I have 100k membership rewards points.
3) On all airlines that I'm able to transfer MR points to?

Acc. To my knowledge you need to book in M class (when R is also available) and then upgrade 700 Mathis points each way per ticket)
Not really worth it
