I should hold my tongue but isn't it crazy that yeshivas have off three weeks in av, three weeks in tishrei and a month in nissan and people still leave early

Our schools have off far more then Yeshivas. Secular schools and collages are even more off.
Airlines sending me "We're in this together" emails.

Bruh, where were you when my suitcase weighed it 51.50 pounds?

1. Who says they don't have tainos on the other institutions?
2. We have a chiyuv vhagisa, ameilus, yedias hatorah, etc. which last I checked doesn't apply to goyim
3. People don't leave college two weeks early

Hi Dan! I am glad to see you spoke to JJ :)

I sympathize about the difficulty in shlepping all the way out here, with or without the kids. Your family can have a great trip here but it would be hard for your wife if you come by yourself. I hope to be booking a trip soon for myself and maybe one kid and it ain't easy for my rebbetzin.

I agree with the guys here that Purim time makes more sense, end of zman as opposed to beginning of zman. If that works for you, looking at a calendar, it looks like Mar 9-12 or 19-20. If you prefer to do it after Pesach, it may make sense for right before RC, like Apr 28-30. That way it is still bein hazmanim. Lots of bachurim may miss it but many new guys will have arrived a few days early for the zman, plus there are tons of Avreichim here. It would be a nice bein hazmanim trip, maybe combine the event with a chazanus concert?

For a charity sponsor, I can look into some ideas.

Hoping to see you soon with all the varied audience! That is one maaleh of a DDF Seminar in EY, there is a greater need for such unity events vd"l.

Like you said, let's be dlz. It is yadua that the RH ZTZvK"L wa very much mechazek the inyan of staying till the end of the zman, as I also heard from Rav N.K. Shlita too.

I don't think right before the zman starts after Pesach is a good idea, for two reasons:

1) Maybe the actual zman won't have started yet, but filling people's minds with a whole bunch of new ideas that may take focus away from learning, right as they're about to begin the new zman, probably isn't the greatest idea either.

2) Many, MANY people will miss it - very possibly including myself. :P And the "new guys who arrive a few days early" are busy getting settled - and even the old guys are, for that matter (I don't have any kids, but I hear from those that do that a jetlagged baby is NOT fun to deal with; methinks these parents ain't making it to no seminar).

I have some concrete ideas for what tzedaka organization to go with, but that's probably better discussed privately.

The most important questions to ask when checking a guy out.
What is his credit score?
How many miles does he have?
What kind of status does he have?
What is his DDF handle?
Etc etc. The important stuff. ;D

Also, if its a little before bein hazmanim everyone will be able to go back home and practice what they learned at the seminar.

Got the picture.
Some things aren't practical with a 6 week old and 2 year old unless you're married to Mrs. Moish or Mrs. Chuchem.
Purim time, she won't be 6 weeks anymore ...

It is really not that difficult. We used to fly a few times a year with all the kids, Europe - USA etc. the kids got used to it and it was pretty smooth. It all depends on planning ahead and my wife gets all the credit for the work. By the actual flights, everything was smooth because we were prepared, toys for the flights etc.

It definitely makes for some memorable moments and precious pics.

Of course, if one kid has an ear ache or three are under 2 and you do not get bulkhead seats, the plane is full and you are not sitting close to each other, that is more challenging.  ;D It is smart to bring along noise-cancelling headphones for the people sitting near you!
