I will ask the forum for their opinion (although I'm not sure anyone but Dan has the authority to answer.)

I have a ten year old kid who is very into my credit cards and mileage. He searches for hidden VR cards at CVS without being asked. :-)

He is begging me to come to the seminar this motzoei shabbos. What do you think about bringing a 10 year old kid who thinks this is the coolest thing in the world?

ETA- but if it's his thing than why not? assuming the organizers are ok with it.

If he can sit for hours and listen why not. Most children can't sit that long they just get bored and restless but you know your child.

Do you want new stuff or more bb? Make up your mind.

yes - both, plus more  --
New ways to use bb...

Also, imo it would be tricky to explain techniques andto have an appropriate Q & A session with a 10 yr. old in the room --
no matter how well someone can sit, it's still 11 pm on a Motzei Shabbos, and ages 15+ as instructed is the way to go.

Dan, you have hundreds of people glued to you when you speak and you still realize those individuals who go out?

Maybe bringing a 10 year old is not great for chinuch, relatively. Children should be raised with idealism, not cynicism. Teaching him to chase cash and how to beat the system is not the right direction. IMHO.

+1 But I don't think he was asking from a Chinuch aspect.

Bummer.
There's always the Sheraton airport for 3K SPG or the Hyatt Independence for 5K UR.
Or priceline/hotwire.

The Sheraton airport is the closest SPG for those driving back towards NY?

yup - funny that they had their opening date as 11/07 posted a few weeks ago...
They probably got tons of calls for this weekend/Motzei Shabbos -- it just switched to 11/21.

Would've been awesome to be the first in the room, brand new bed....

looks like a great Beachwood hotel - will have to come back to CLE...

If I thought that there was anything hashkafically problematic with any of this, not only would I not expose my children to it, but I wouldn't even do it myself.

But aderaba.... I think davka this is a healthy way to look at money. My kids know that I work for a living, they know that we work hard to make sure our kli for parnassa is a pure kli and that we cherish every dime the Aibershter sends us.

I don't think it's coincidence that the seminar will be the night which begins the reading of parshas Vayishlach. Why did Yaakov go back and get stuck wrestling the angel? For pachim ketanim! Why did he go back for a few bucks? Just walk away, nu. But no, says Rashi that by tzadikim count every dollar/mile and don't take them lightly.

And there you have the dvar Torah for tomorrow night.  :)

sorry...  it's not the place for a 10 year old child... (Motzei Shabbos at 11 o'clock!?)

Just being involved in adult conversation like this is not respectful --
there's a time and place for everything...

i.e. Adults can do good things on forums and fb -- it's not the place for kids under 14
