Zman Technologies Shabbos Keeper

Is there a way to make it warmer? The shabbos warm only keeps it on 200 degrees which I don't think is warm enough.

I asked them about a year ago and they said there’s no way to change/customize it.

I know quite a few people who are unhappy about it. Maybe if there's enough noise...

If the temperature is able to go higher (than 220 but they seemingly set it at 200 to be on the safe side), there would be halachik implications since it's considered an oven instead of just a warmer.

There's a big difference between 200 and 220

Can you explain this distinction?

I agree, even if they can raise it by 10 degrees it would help (for example, it can be the difference between overnight kugel staying white or coming out nice and brown). But you have to keep in mind, they need to make sure it can't go above 220, AFAIK.

Not a posek, but from what I've heard directly from the OU and other mashgichim, if the unit is able to reach above 220 it's considered an oven which makes it much harder to use on shabbos.

AYLOR. I'm only repeating what I was told that there are implications if it can go to a temperature where it's considered an oven.

I’m assuming they don’t allow putting in food on Shabbos and its only for food put in before shabbos. So there should be no halachik implications on raising the temperature.

What about putting things back into the oven, or closing the door while food is in there.

I was assuming they don’t allow putting food back, CMIIW. Closing the door shouldn’t be an issue when everything is already cooked.

I see no reason for a distinction between 200 and 220 at all. Both can cook. There is no "warmer" in halacha. Everything is classified a a kira.

I asked about changing the times that it goes on to 350 in the yt mode.
Also I wanted the warm to be closer to 250ish so I could slow cook a brisket overnight on yt.
They said neither is possible.

It is my understanding that the OU does not treat a warmer (that cannot reach high cooking temps) as a kira, even if it's higher than yad soletes bo.
But I don't speak for them and anyone can reach out to them directly.

This may make sense in the case of a warmer in which its unusual to cook in. An oven cannot become a warmer merely by being on a certain temperature, as it would still be מחזי כמבשל.
