Air Canada to Tel Aviv
« on: June 11, 2008, 11:48:31 PM »
Has anyone flown to Israel recently on Air Canada?  If so, have they upgraded the cabins with personalized seat-back entertainment?

I have flown them a yr and a half ago... Some planes had personal entertainment and some not.

I am flying Premium Economy to/from Israel on Air Canada. According to Seat Guru http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Air_Canada/Air_Canada_Boeing_787-8.php, row 12 of the Air Canada 787-8 has a seat G. According to Air Canada seat map, there is no G (see attached pictures). Has anyone flown this flight and know if there is there a seat G?

I'd assume that the actual airline is correct. Seatguru is not right 100% of the time.

They're really cheap. Like 163 RT. I wouldn't expect much more than a hard plastic seat.

I flew AC to/from Israel in Feb 2014. There was seatback entertainment. I also seem to remember my row did not appear on Seatguru; go with what the airline has, not SG.

Flown on them at least 4 times this year, each had seat-back entertainment.

Is Air Canada strict about enforcing the size and weight of the carry on luggage?

Tell me about it! When I go to Israel for their annual hockey tournament, I have no problem checking my hockey gear as my 1 free bag and getting to check my sticks for free (per AC policy sticks don't count if you have a bag checked).

Of course, on the return I always have to get to the airport 30 minutes earlier so I can argue with the Israeli AC agents about not charging me the extra $100. I always win in the end, but it's always a fight because they don't know their own policy.

In the meantime, they haven't (yet) measured my bag and noticed it's big by a few cm.

When flying BOS->YYZ->TLV, I assume don't have to clear customs in Canadia? So can bring any food?

First of all, learn how to spell.
And you will need to clear customs in YYZ, you can bring food, just declare it
Sometimes it doesn't pay to save money.

I will learn how to spell, right after I learn how to ignore snippy useless comments and revisionist history.

You are incorrect; you currently cannot bring raw chicken from the U.S. to Canadia.  Nor many fruits and vegetables.  If you need to clear customs, they'll make you throw out the chickens.

I don't know what the meals are. You can most definitely order a kosher meal though.
