We usually stay away from refurbished items.

That was what I was worried about. But it's a lot cheaper so maybe worth it

Anyone have any experience with the stick vacuum? I'm debating between that and the Lift-Away

I've had a couple of brands (not shark), they are good for hard floors (you can use it instead of a dustpan) or commercial carpet, but they are not going to pick up any dirt from plush carpeting

FWIW it's possible the shark stick vac is better than the $20 ones I've used, but the price difference for the regular one is not that much so I'd go with that.

Got my vacuum today. While it seems to work perfectly, the cosmetics are horrible. It looks like it's been used for two or three years and then repackaged and resold. If it would be sold as used on Amazon, I think it would be rated "used-acceptable." The whole thing looks old, and it's full of scratches and dent - from years of use. The cable also has slight cuts and shreds, but nothing is exposed.

I don't think it's fair for them to sell this as "scratch and dent", which I always thought implies that it was a floor sample. Should I contact them?

 That's not good to hear.
 But definitely you should write back what's $10 going to do.
 At least 50% or $20-$30 is something to make up.
 Not satisfied with the $10 offer. You got to get a better offer.

   I know shark has a few year warranty and woot offers 90 warranty.
