« on: February 14, 2012, 07:34:53 PM »
If anybody is planning a birthright trip this summer, registration is open from Wednesday 2/15/12 until Shabbos. Once you're applying (OU Free Spirit -Yeladim is the frum group), add in referral code YELADIM-NAF in step 5 of the registration. Choose OU Israel Free Spirit. Text me for more information (216) 245-1225.

There are many tour groups of Birthright (it's not one big group). The only frum group is Yeladim, of the OU Israel Free Spirit organizer. I just came off a male-only OU Free Israel last week, and it constituted of mostly yeshivish guys, even though it was NCSY. It's a great program, you see a lot of cool stuff, toivel yourself in the Arizal's mikveh, view Yerushalaim, tour the streets of Yerushalaim on Shabbos, and eat the Shabbos seuda by the kosel (at Aish), etc. Great offer you can't pass.

It is quite hard to get on them (took me a couple tries), and it's first come first serve (they fill up spaces in the order received). If you applied before, they move your application up, as long as you saved your original sign up email and password, and applied as early as possible (they give you one extra day for returning applicants before they open up to new applicants). I believe, by my understanding, they prioritize any application with a referral code.

whats the referral do

The referral code allows me a chance to join their team as a madrich or the like. You can choose any group you want to. But the frum organizers I'm aware of are OU Israel Free Spirit and Yeladim.

Incorrect. Anybody can apply. New applicants begin tomorrow. So get ready. They expect this summer to be the biggest sign ups ever, and they're also adding more groups, so now's your best chance. If you only want to go during winter (as a break, or because you want to tour Israel during the cooler weather, etc.), apply anyway now, just so you have that extra day before everybody else in September when registration opens again.

It's not. Registration begins tomorrow. I just realized Yeladim is part of the OU Israel Free Spirit organizer. (That explains why they say it's the only frum group)
In step 5 of the registration, choose OU Israel Free Spirit, choose your trip option (it gives the single gender option), and enter YELADIM-NAF in the referral code box. (See attached image)
They are a fantastic organizer, they take you to frum destinations, you will have a blast, you will have 8 soldiers join your trip, and they take you to a really fancy chareidi hotel by T'veria (anybody hear of Milon Kibbutz Lavi?)

I am good as far as the other requirements (AFAIK), though I've been in Israel ~a dozen times and might be going for Pesach.

I just checked, having a referral code makes your application have priority.
Also, I just got off from Delta, and I just got free roundtrip skymiles! How awesome is that???

What a waste of money. Let it go to people who it may light a spark under. All the Frum people end up going regardless
