go to  apple.com/store and on the left side there is a refurb section. Comes with a 1 year apple warranty, in the nice white box. You would never know the difference and you can save 10-15%

prefer new
(box was reference to all the Amazon individual sellers selling 'new' 'just opened to check' etc., with no way to verify)

I have a new Ipod nano that I won from some raffle a while ago. I'm not into these stuff, so I have no idea the generation of it. Anyway to find that out?

Based on the model # - in the about menu you could see it, and google the model # then.

Or post a pix of it here

Weird that you got a 5th gen (video) one, as most people got a 6th gen (touch) version, eBay and CL are flooded with them, I recently bought one myself. Perhaps they ran out of 6th gen refurbs?

Whoops, confused the two responses:

$100, it was sent as a replacement to my first generation nano. it is new (or refurbished- not sure) and comes with a 90 day warranty
