Coming from a yeshiva degree- do law schools care about where or how many places you went to?
I was in a bunch of different yeshivos at a bunch of different times without having received my Talmudic degree(getting it now). Anyone looking at my resumet would think it’s ridiculous that I switched so many times(including in and out of one plac twice as well as being in one place for one semester etc.).

Is that something I should worry about when trying for the top tier law schools?

Will I be able to make up for that with a good gpa and lsat score?

TIA

I hardly expect it to matter. I'd probably include only the ones that gave college credits. If it looks really weird, you can include a short explanation

thanks.
In my case all gave college credits.

I was thinking of that. Adding a oage with an explanation as to  why I switched so many times.

Sounds odd to me, I'd just put the one that gave you the degree. And a page explaining it sounds weird too.

Unless you play it to your advantage somehow.

They see where all your credits have come from anyway, through the lsac report they receive along with your app.

Agreed to only l8st the degree granting institution on resume.  But the application itself i think often asks for all of them.

Btw, you need to save copies of your applications, because you need to make sure it matches what you put in your bar applications (and then save those for other bar applications, or govt job applications)

What henche said. Keep your final  application ready for bar admission for consistency. If all those schools gave you credits reflected in the degree granting institution transcript, you will likely have to produce corresponding transcripts for the individual schools. You should have a positive narrative ready to explain the moves.

Hi - I am lobbying to change the rule at my firm re vacation days for the holidays. Currently we need to use some of our limited vacation days for Yom tovim, but I’ve been told that we try and match what other firms are doing.

Can the oilem tell me what their firm’s policy is? I need the firm name too so please DM if don’t want it public.

Thanks

I don't have to burn vaca days for YT at my firm but from my understanding, we're in the minority.

We don't have a vacation policy.

Rule is (1) take when you need, for as long as you need* and (2) meet your billables.

Some years, I've taken more than 2 months combined vacation.

*Perhaps the exception to swallow the rule, but you have to make sure cases and clients are handled while gone, or remain in touch.

What that means in practice varies widely.

In my dept, we have an excellent culture that when you're on vacation, to hand off your projects and your friends do your work for you, and the partners are OK with that (and actually do it also).

Of course. For the most part, however, your vacation is yours. I've been contacted in emergencies, though.

I know someone at Crovath and Yom tov is considered personal days and don't count as vacation days.

Is this the case for partners as well, or are they always on call and involved?

Cravath doesn't have unlimited vacation?
