Good think he wasnt Chabad. Ticket would have been $770  :)

The point of the story is, even if you went to law school you still need the advice of a traffic ticket attorney.

A sister unit in my agency (NYC Department of Social Services) is hiring 5 attorneys to work in adult protective services and related litigation. The hiring level is Agency Attorney Interne at $60,755 per year. My agency generally promotes to Agency Attorney I after six months. Attorneys at my agency are unionized, typically work 35 hours per week with occasional paid overtime, and are very well treated (IMO). NYC residency required. The job number is 245827.

Quote

• Represent the Adult Protective Services Program (APS) program on legal matters before the Court, at hearings/ petitions/ other judicial proceedings, to avert further litigation and submit reports on dispositions to the Agency.

• Prepare legal opinions on matters of importance to the APS program using generally accepted legal procedures, forms and techniques to meet the City/Agency needs/goals/ objectives.

• Provide legal counsel and technical assistance to APS program by attending meetings, reviewing legal issues/documents, assisting management in resolving complex legal questions.

$60,755 for 35/week sounds like the same hourly as a top firm lawyer. Just they have 3 times the hours of week ;)

It's union vs non-union!
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

fascinating information. It looks like NY Big Law is getting the majority of the high starting salaries. For frum Jews, however the additional $100K is eaten up by mortgage and tuition. Still decent, if that's the career goal.

(We used that exact diagram #2 on that page for a summary report. It was very helpful.)

great news. Safe travels...  Working at the same firm?
Real estate is much cheaper in Houston. Dallas, not so much. Tuition should be pretty decent overall. Much better winters, of course.

Not really. Obviously there's some give and take between different aspects of state/local taxation, but NY is pretty consistently ranked as having the highest overall tax burden, while Texas is generally near the bottom - 47st in this particular assessment for the latest tax year they have available:

Maybe for someone with a $50k-$75k a year salary but for anyone over that of course they save money moving to Texas.

By what measure? Relatively low property taxes are offset to a significant degree by city income tax. Here's one study that places NYC at #3 in overall tax burden among the largest cities in each state:

Whoops. I read your post as referring to property tax, not general tax burden.

NYC property tax increases (not as a percentage of property value, but in nominal terms) have outpaced inflation over the past 15 years or so (since Bloomberg's first term).

Are there much better, amazing results from "Fish" ($2300 + 4 days/week classes + HW)
vs. 7 Sage online course ($180)

Not about the money, but more about the work and 4 days/week commitment -- Anyone seen major proven 10-12 point increase results? Any advice?
