-If you plan on using public transportation, get an Oyster card. They are much cheaper and easier to use than conventional travel cards, and never expire. They can be bought in many stores in London, or online. These days one can use contactless credit cards instead of Oyster.(Check here to see if your foreign contactless card will work.)

-Here is a handy planner for the public transport system.

-DD's Kosher Sandwiches can be bought in most major airports and stations and at some supermarkets around London.  Check here for a list of locations.

-Kosher in the West End/City -
Selfridges food hall has a variety of kosher groceries and prepackaged ready food by 1701.
Hermolis  also have a deli counter there.  The range includes schnitzels, spring rolls, kebabs, breaded lamb chops, chicken wings, fish products and salads. Traditional Shabbat dishes will be on sale on Thursdays and Fridays. Supervision is provided by the Kashrut Division London Beth Din
In the City Munch'n'Crunch have a stand in Hatton Garden with kosher meals, sandwiches, sushi and coffee. It is located at 32 Hatton Garden, on the lower-ground floor of Jewellery Emporium. There is also Mincha there at 1:30.

-Kosher food at non-kosher hotels, restaurants etc. can be ordered from the following kosher caterers in London. They provide double-wrapped meals to any location and could also match the menu of your location.

Royal Cuisine (KED/LBD)

Zmanim - MyZmanim London

Minyanim - There are many shuls all over London, however there are a couple of places that have more constant Minyanim throughout the day.

Hagers (Beth Yisochor Dov Beth Hamedrash)
R' Chuna's (Beth Shmuel Synagogue)

Stamford Hill

Here is a list of addresses and zmanim for the above, and other places.

-Minyan in the West End could be found at the Marble Arch Synagogue. Shacharis during the week is followed by breakfast, and a kiddush on Shabbos.

-Most food products in general stores do not have a hechsher on them. This does not necessarily mean they are not kosher. For example, Coca-Cola does not have a hechsher, but it is kosher. Here is an online kosher product search that could help. Link to Android app.

I went January and the weather wasn't too bad. Wet, but didn't stop us from doing Matt's tour or going around.
Weather is a 'hit or miss'... almost any time of year.

I was there February 1 a few years ago. It was chilly (highs in the low 40s) and crystal clear. I had a great time.

from what I understand, their rates are high. Unless you are calling a lot of Gigaf users it isn't worth it.

Has anyone stayed at the the Hyatt Regency London The Churchill?
Sorry for not seeing this sooner. We stayed there for two nights last summer.
Absolutely loved it.
Was with my wife and 17yo son.
We did not have any meaningful Hyatt status.
Nonetheless, they upgraded us to a suite with a balcony, brought us a fruit bowl, and gave us access to the Club Room.
The breakfasts in the Club Room were amazing. Wife and son hold less machmir kashrut than me, so they ate the lox and pastries and cheese etc -- was very lavish.  I was able to enjoy several yogurt options, based on this reply to my query, from the KLBD:

Dear zow:

Whilst Northiam Dairy Yoghurts are not supervised, in the UK we allow all ordinary plain and fruit flavoured yoghurts except when they contain gelatine, cochineal (E120), grape juice or other problematic ingredients.
Yoghurts containing whole raspberries or raspberry pieces should be avoided as raspberries require careful inspection.

Kind regards

Michal

GifGaf?

gifgaf was supposed to be delivered to my hotel and waiting for me. never showed up. walked to a local convenient store and purchased a lebara sim card with 5gb of data plus some international minutes in case I needed them (it was my wife's birthday, my parents anniversary, and grandparents birthdays so people wanted to call us or really have us call them). I could have done whatsapp calls over wifi in my hotel and purchased less data and less minutes because everyone has whatsapp except for my 92 year old grandparents who don't own cell phones or have internet in their house. but the overages are crazy so id rather spend some extra pounds and be safe. I was there for 10 days. I think the whole package cost me 25 pounds at most.

I'm not gonna vouch for them because I can't stand their rule that activating a new package eliminates your old package (e.g. if you run out of data and buy a data package you will no longer have access to your voice allowance that was part of your original package). However, their prices were the best last I checked, they offer small packages for people on short stays and their top-up system is very easy to use. I had no issues receiving my sim and had no overage problems as I blocked overage on my account via their easy to use website.

It depends what you need it for...
I am going to be in Scotland, England, & Ireland for 9 days. Mostly international calls and data. Though I need mostly international calls.
gifgaf was supposed to be delivered to my hotel and waiting for me. never showed up. walked to a local convenient store and purchased a lebara sim card with 5gb of data plus some international minutes in case I needed them (it was my wife's birthday, my parents anniversary, and grandparents birthdays so people wanted to call us or really have us call them). So 10 GBP for sim?
