-If you plan on using public transportation, get an Oyster card. They are much cheaper and easier to use than conventional travel cards, and never expire. They can be bought in many stores in London, or online. These days one can use contactless credit cards instead of Oyster.(Check here to see if your foreign contactless card will work.)

-Here is a handy planner for the public transport system.

-DD's Kosher Sandwiches can be bought in most major airports and stations and at some supermarkets around London.  Check here for a list of locations.

-Kosher in the West End/City -
Selfridges food hall has a variety of kosher groceries and prepackaged ready food by 1701.
Hermolis  also have a deli counter there.  The range includes schnitzels, spring rolls, kebabs, breaded lamb chops, chicken wings, fish products and salads. Traditional Shabbat dishes will be on sale on Thursdays and Fridays. Supervision is provided by the Kashrut Division London Beth Din
In the City Munch'n'Crunch have a stand in Hatton Garden with kosher meals, sandwiches, sushi and coffee. It is located at 32 Hatton Garden, on the lower-ground floor of Jewellery Emporium. There is also Mincha there at 1:30.

-Kosher food at non-kosher hotels, restaurants etc. can be ordered from the following kosher caterers in London. They provide double-wrapped meals to any location and could also match the menu of your location.

-Minyan in the West End could be found at the Marble Arch Synagogue. Shacharis during the week is followed by breakfast, and a kiddush on Shabbos.

-Most food products in general stores do not have a hechsher on them. This does not necessarily mean they are not kosher. For example, Coca-Cola does not have a hechsher, but it is kosher. Here is an online kosher product search that could help. Link to Android app.

im going to be in London for a couple of hours (plane lands at 7:15am and next flight departs at 4:40pm) i would like to know what my best option would be for food and maybe a little sight seeing thanx a lot.
golders green for food, tower of london for sightseeing
I wouldn't schlepp into GG for food on a short stay. I'd rather pack in activities. Get some cheap DD Sandwiches at their random locations throughout the city and spend your time enjoying the sites.
Or Rubine's for food.
Reuben's is not a cheap deli. It's not Reserve Cut, but it's still not a cheap lunch. I would go for dropping 3-5GBP on a DD Sandwich instead.

In terms of activities for a day in the city:
1) You'll be there early and can probably get a good spot for Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. Perhaps opt for the Changing of the Guard tour that AJK took (search this thread somewhere).
2) You can hop over to see Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, but that's really more to just see, not much to do (assuming you won't go in because of the Church concern).
3) Visit Tower of London, which is cool to walk around and you get to see the Crown Jewels there.

I think you can do the above 3 items to get some of the classic touristy things packed into a fun day.

If you're into something else, and If you're a die-hard Harry Potter fan, you might be able to catch the first bus in the morning to the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour and still make it back for your flight. But look into the times, it would probably be cutting it close. Some other ideas: I haven't been to the museums in London, but I hear some of them are very good. Additionally, it's not a "must-do" but I loved the London Dungeon - take a look into that.

Anyone in London now through Friday? Keep in mind there's a tube/train strike until Midnight on Friday. All tube/train lines are suspended. https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/tube/tube-strike?cid=tube-strike

Might have been confusing it with http://www.rubinsboston.com/, the finest kosher deli in New England. (the only one, AFAIK)

Question about visiting Windsor Castle:

We will be visiting London for three nights, arriving LHR from TLV at 10AM on a Monday and then departing on Thursday early morning.

I see that Windsor Castle seems relatively close to LHR.

Does it make sense to go to Windsor Castle directly from LHR, before going into London?

We will have more than carry-on luggage, and it doesn't seem to be possible to check/store large luggage at the Castle.
Suggestions?

I was wondering if we could leave our checked luggage unclaimed (flying BA) and then loop back to LHR after visiting Windsor Castle to pick it up.   Is that even possible? Or, is this all more hassle than it's worth?

Windsor Castle is very nice. Not an absolute must-see, but it's very nice. Are you planning to rent a car to go there? Maybe there's a luggage hold place in the airport.

Thanks, @Yehuda. Yes, this is my second visit to Windsor Castle, first for my DW and son. Good suggestion about "left baggage" -- LHR does offer, with per-bag rates of 5GBP for 0-2hrs and 10GBP for 2-24hrs. I don't really want to rent a car, so we could do Uber from LHR to WC, then Uber back to LHR, pick up our bag(s), and then continue on to our hotel (Hyatt Regency). Or, might just Tube directly to hotel from LHR, and then next day Tube back to Windsor.  Just trying to figure out if saving the time and travel by seeing WC directly from LHR is worth the added expenses.   Thanks, again!

Restaurant 1701 was amazing. Better food than almost any restaurant, anywhere. Small portions, and complex dishes. They are not open for dinner on Mondays, so we went for lunch. check came out to $175.

http://www.restaurant1701.co.uk/

I have heard many great things about 1701, but it appears they are closed at present. (See pasted info from their website below, and yes I have a read other news and have also signed up for updates on the website.) Does anyone have an update on whether/when/where they will be reopening?

They didn't find a new location yet. They have a takeout concession in Selfridges.

Thy just announced a catering service too
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

just wanted to point out that people should do research before deciding to rely on certain hechsherim, especially for meat. the sfradi kashrus authority, which to the best of my knowledge certifies ruben's, isn't very reliable at all
