-If you plan on using public transportation, get an Oyster card. They are much cheaper and easier to use than conventional travel cards, and never expire. They can be bought in many stores in London, or online. These days one can use contactless credit cards instead of Oyster.(Check here to see if your foreign contactless card will work.)

-Here is a handy planner for the public transport system.

-DD's Kosher Sandwiches can be bought in most major airports and stations and at some supermarkets around London.  Check here for a list of locations.

-Kosher in the West End/City -
Selfridges food hall has a variety of kosher groceries and prepackaged ready food by 1701.

Here is a short TR:
Day 1
Arrived to LHR at 8:05 AM bought two unlimited travel card and boarded the train at 8:30. Arrived to Manor house station at 9:50 quite a bumpy ride with luggage. By 1:30 we were ready to start the day after lunch.
Took the tube to Tower of london. Walked around the area and part of bridge had just enough time to get some pics before heading to the change of  horse guards at 4:00 PM. it was quite empty and we got a good view. did some souvenir shopping and stopped into this really nice place for English tea. headed down to the London eye, parliament and then headed to Harrods for some browsing and by 9:30 PM we were shot after a full day.
Day 2
the plan was: Go to the enfield cemetery, make it at 11:00 to the change of horse guards ( with the queen in residence they use 30 horses), british museum, have lunch pack up and leave to airport.
Here is how it actually panned out.
Started the day by going to the Cemetery in Enfield at about 9:20. Bought Two more unlimited travel cards. Mistake one- non peak travel starts at 9:30, could have waited ten min and get discounted cards) arrived to Enfield and wanted to take the bus to the cemetery. Bus was running late after fifteen minutes of waiting decided to uber round trip. It cost about 8 GBP. By that time it was 10:30 and we wanted to make the 11:30 change of guards at Buckingham palace. That would have been cutting it close since the train ride back to seven sisters or Stamford hill is about 15-20 min and from there to Buckingham is another 15-20 minutes. Mistake two: overground in London dont run every few minutes like the underground. Arriving to the station we realized the train runs on half hour intervals and we just missed one. We ubered to Seven sister station (about 15 GBP) caught the Victorian line to Green park and walked to the palace. We made it just in time!
Lesson learned: sometimes its worth ubering instead of relying solely on public transport
After the change of guards we headed to palace museum but ended just browsing the gift shop. We then went to Russel square and walked the ten minute walk to the British museum. The museum was amazing! no they didnt have a jewish exhibit out now. we covered the must do's and then headed back to stamford hill for lunch and packing up. Since we already had the unlimited passes, we just had to take the underground to LHR.
All in all i felt like we accomplished the must do's in london.

Sounds like a rushed  2nd day, but an overall nice time.

I also had some interesting experiences at the andaz. I had booked a non refundable rate using my citi prestige 4th night free and used a DSU. I specifically booked the andaz because of bevis marks. When I found out that it closed I tried to convince the hotel to let me cancel so I could re-book at a hotel in a better location. They vehemently refused after going back and forth with the manager I gave up. The manager tried to make me happy by upgrading us to ther largest suite which actually was really nice and was convenient for putting our baby to sleep and not waking her up.
We did have some other slight issues with the hotel as well. The first issue which was relatively minor: Their AC units are very strange in that you can only set them on a range. Basically they have a setting called 0 which i guess is average and you can move it up or down 3 degrees celcius from there. When we got into the room it wa sbasolutely freezing cold set at 0 so we moved it all the way up to +3 which after a while brought the suite to a more comfortable level. On the 4th day of our stay we came back to the room in the evening to put our daughter to sleep and the housekeeping had moved the AC all the way down to -3. It was literally like being in a freezer.

The second issue which to me is a bigger issue. One day we got a late start and left our room around 11, my wife wanted to go shop at a store near by before we went out to our activites for the day. She went and bought something and instead of carrying it around all day she ran back to put it in our room. When she got there the door to our room was left open. Someone (presumably house keeping) had come and pulled out the lock to keep the door open but no one was in or around the room. To me this is a big security issue. I have a large laptop that wouldnt fit in the safe so it was out in the room. In general i wasnt too worried about housekeeping stealing things like that. But to leave the room wide open so anyone could go in is a big issue.

When I got back to the hotel that night I spoke to a manager and told her I didnt want compensation but that I really thought this was not acceptable and was something they should fix. She insisted on booking us a cab to the airport for the next day on the hotel.

Oy, not good. FWIW the Park Tower Knightsbridge also messed up with us and fixed the problem. Could it be a London thing more than specifically an Andaz thing? The Andaz Maui (at least during our stay) didn't have any issues.

Don't need pics for a TR. That's merely the icing. Though pics of the room or the room number would be helpful if you have em.

Just what you did, what you did wrong, what you ate, what you missed, etc.

I believe it was room 104, I also believe it was what they called their andaz larger suite. that middle room is a dressing/closet room and it has a large bathroom attached which included a large soaking tub and separate shower.the bedroom is much larger than it looks in the pic. On the left there was a round dining table with 4 chairs and then there was a desk along the left wall and past the bed there was like a loungin chair with lots of empty space.

Going for a few days this summer. Need a minyan for kaddish. Was thinking about staying at Hyatt Regency near the Western Marble Arch Synagogue. Does anyone know anything about that hotel? Or is there another hotel near minyan?

True, but Andaz isn't near the Marble Arch Shul. Also we stayed in Knightsbridge. If anywhere in London is supposed to have a high concentration of Muslims Knightsbridge is a top contender.

What would you like to know. We were there three and a half years ago. It's a Hyatt regency, not a PH. Rooms are pretty tired (unless they've been updated). Great location for marble Arch synagogue
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.
