-If you plan on using public transportation, get an Oyster card. They are much cheaper and easier to use than conventional travel cards, and never expire. They can be bought in many stores in London, or online. These days one can use contactless credit cards instead of Oyster.(Check here to see if your foreign contactless card will work.)

-Here is a handy planner for the public transport system.

-DD's Kosher Sandwiches can be bought in most major airports and stations and at some supermarkets around London.  Check here for a list of locations.

-Kosher in the West End/City -
Selfridges food hall has a variety of kosher groceries and prepackaged ready food by 1701.
Hermolis  also have a deli counter there.  The range includes schnitzels, spring rolls, kebabs, breaded lamb chops, chicken wings, fish products and salads. Traditional Shabbat dishes will be on sale on Thursdays and Fridays. Supervision is provided by the Kashrut Division London Beth Din
In the City Munch'n'Crunch have a stand in Hatton Garden with kosher meals, sandwiches, sushi and coffee. It is located at 32 Hatton Garden, on the lower-ground floor of Jewellery Emporium. There is also Mincha there at 1:30.

-Kosher food at non-kosher hotels, restaurants etc. can be ordered from the following kosher caterers in London. They provide double-wrapped meals to any location and could also match the menu of your location.
Hermolis (KED/LBD)
Royal Cuisine (KED/LBD)

Zmanim - MyZmanim London

Minyanim - There are many shuls all over London, however there are a couple of places that have more constant Minyanim throughout the day.

R' Chuna's (Beth Shmuel Synagogue)

Here is a list of addresses and zmanim for the above, and other places.

-Minyan in the West End could be found at the Marble Arch Synagogue. Shacharis during the week is followed by breakfast, and a kiddush on Shabbos.

-Most food products in general stores do not have a hechsher on them. This does not necessarily mean they are not kosher. For example, Coca-Cola does not have a hechsher, but it is kosher. Here is an online kosher product search that could help. Link to Android app.

Currently on a quick Business trip to London and had some random thoughts thus far. The Wiki is tremendously helpful:
- AA 772 lie flat is really really solid. Soft product is inconsistent but seat is great with tons of legroom. JFK and LHR lounges are fresh and clean with showers and ironing service in LHR.
-Heathrow express is the way to go(probably stated a few times, but another data point).
-Stayed at the One Aldwych. Ordered food from Hermolis(as the hotel is far from Reubens). Rates aren't cheap, but cheaper than other 5 stars and a lot less stuffy. They asked when and where I wanted food delivered, and delivered to the second of when they said they would. Great location to walk around the city(or Jog, which is a great way to see the city instead of the gym). Indoor pool looked cool too.
-Hermolis food was really good. Tasted as if it was freshly ordered from abigaels or Le marais.
-DD sandwhiches are really good as well. Kosher food situation is really manageable with proper planning.
-London is a really great city. People compare to NYC and dismiss but the character and architecture is really cool.

Nice mini TR - as stated by Davidmal!
Can someone please explain why everyone raves about the  Heathrow Express, in does not seem so much quicker to London then the Underground, just a lot cleaner and has wifi. Why pay the extra $30?

Hi,
Going to Israel for Lag B'omer with an all day stopover in LHR.  I arrive at LHR on Thirsday May 11 at 6:25 am.  My flight to TLV leaves Thursday night at 10:30 pm.  I have no checked bags being that I am leaving Israel Monday morning.

I would prefer to daven with a minyan, if not I could daven at the airport and hopefully find a place to store my carry on bags.   Since I have the whole day and dont see myself returning to London in the near future what do you recommend me seeing?  I'm one person and use to moving fast.  Where are there places to store carry on at LHR?  What time do I need to leave London to be back at  LHR? Would love to grab a bite to eat at some point or 2. Thanks in advance for all your help and ideas.

For food you can go to Reubens for dinner. For lunch or breakfast you are probably best off picking up a DD sandwich. You can use the KosherNearMe the app.

As for where to store luggage in general I'm not fully aware of LHR but in general you can store your luggage at the hotel that is nearby or connected to the airport.

1 day in London
I would suggest:

1. Early morning Tower of London
2. Then photo shoot at tower bridge
You could walk to it and back if you want to spend another 40mins total there
We just took photos from further out
3. Then river cruise past London eye, shard and Shakespeare's globe
4. to Big Ben and house of parliament
5. then from there I would do a Uber to Buckingham Palace
Use a app like sygic to spot places on the way and know what your looking at

6. Then maybe I would suggest some shopping:

Choice of oxford St..
Regent St.
Selfridges
Or Harrods

7. And then go eat at Rubins.

Nice day in London.

Check my TR on those things and pics.
http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=70097.0

I would skip Harry Potter which is fiction and not London
I would skip Matt's Tour because it's too time consuming for a 1 day trip.

Just saw this,  will follow it.  Still need to know about davening and What time I must leave to go back to the airport for a 10:30 pm flight to TLV.  Need to pick up my carryons and if

1. Prob Not. but maybe it is early

Marble Arch is a very quick Minyan as well
maybe they have a second minyan nearby?

2. Prioirity Pass might store your luggage
but I found this online.

Actually the nearest shul to Heathrow airport with a daily minyan is Wembley United Synagogue - they have a website with contact details on. But appreciate if you're going straight to Central London then Western Marble Arch may do. Additionally the Central Synagogue on Great Portland Street or Bevis Marks in the City of London (Sephardi).

DD's sandwiches are available in LHR and throughout central London - their website lists all the places to purchase them. Reubens is the only proper restaurant in Central London, few minutes walk from Baker Street. Also a limited offering of sandwiches/ready meals in Selfridges.

I live in London so please let me know if you need any more info.

Well put!

"Bevis Marks in the City of London (Sephardi)." might be a good option as well if they have a 8am as its closer to Tower of London as well if that's your first stop.
if you pray at Marble Arch they serve Breakfast as well after minyan.

Bevis Marks is 7.15am on weekdays, 8am Sunday.

Breakfast at UK shul's is probably different to what you may get in the US - at best maybe a challah roll or something like that. It won't be a lavish spread!

Highly unlikely at that time virtually no chance, particularly if you're going by public transport.

In terms of getting there for 10.30 flight, again it depends from where and how you're travelling.

I guess best bet is to Daven on the plane.  Today's flight came in over an hour late.  Since I'm landing so early what do you recommend I go see first?  I'm landing in terminal 5 and need to go to terminal 4 to put m carry on in storage.  If I follow the itinerary below should I still take the Heathrow express?

We just took photos from further out
3. Then river cruise past London eye, shard and Shakespeare's globe
4. to Big Ben and house of parliament
5. then from there I would do a Uber to Buckingham Palace
Use a app like sygic to spot places on the way and know what your looking at

6. Then maybe I would suggest some shopping:

Choice of oxford St..
Regent St.
Selfridges
Or Harrods

7. And then go eat at Rubins.

Nice day in London.

Check my TR on those things and pics.

I would skip Harry Potter which is fiction and not London
I would skip Matt's Tour because it's too time consuming for a 1 day trip.

I would suggest:
1. Early morning Tower of London
2. Then photo shoot at tower bridge
You could walk to it and back if you want to spend another 40mins total there

That all sounds do-able. If you want mincha they do it at Sandy Row synagogue which is a short walk from the Tower of London. At about 1.30pm or so. Alternatively Central Synagogue at similar time on Great Portland Street.

DD's sandwiches from John Lewis foodhall on Oxford Street for lunch (or Reubens - but be warned Reubens is very expensive!).

No quick way from H'row to Central London but the H'row Express is as quick as any other option.

For a foreigner I felt Rueben's was normally priced and insanely exceptionally priced on certain items like lamb chops

Compared to the kosher restaurants in NW London it's very over-priced. I was there last week and they charged £2.95 for a can of Coke (think that's about $4!). They have a captive market and unfortunately they choose to exploit it.
