It’s a bit closer to GG & Hendon than other parts of the city & the one time we took an Uber from GG back to our hotel it cost about 18£. (Not sure why somebody said earlier it cost them 140£ for a ride to the city… even further in shouldn’t be that much more.)

It's possible that a black cab will charge you £100 for a ride which Uber would charge £18-30.
Never take black cabs.

Looking to book a marriot hotel in London mid-summer 3 nights. Just me and the wife. Assuming we are looking to do the usual touristy things, where would you recommend we stay?

I used black cabs a lot, never had a problem. I really doubt if he went by the meter the charge would be that high compared to Uber.

FYI Reubens on Baker Street has closed
I found out the hard way, showing up there on Monday only to find them closed. I thought maybe it was because of the Bank Holiday, but apparently that wasn't it.

Ideally stay at Gatwick. There is a Hilton connected to South Terminal and Hampton Inn connected to North Terminal, both fine and normally pretty cheap.
Main problem is that last bus from Heathrow to Gatwick as at 2245, so unlikely to make that. IF there are two or more of you, arrange a minicab as that won't be much more than bus fare. IF just one - can you stretch to minicab? Will make your life much easier.
Otherwise - there is Yotel in Heathrow TErminal 4 and Gatwick. Depending on which terminal you arrive at this may also be good option.

I was wondering if anyone has feedback on Threadneedles Autograph Collection, London Marriot Hotel Maida Vale or London Marriott Hotel Regents Park?  This would be instead of staying at Marriot Marble Arch.

I recently stayed at marble arch because it’s pretty much midway between the city & golders green & right next to a shul.

Yes, there are sleeping pods in South Terminal (but may be more expensive than Hilton/Hampton Inn). No lounges open overnight IIRC, and anyway you won't be able to clear security night before.
