-If you plan on using public transportation, get an Oyster card. They are much cheaper and easier to use than conventional travel cards, and never expire. They can be bought in many stores in London, or online. These days one can use contactless credit cards instead of Oyster.(Check here to see if your foreign contactless card will work.)

-Here is a handy planner for the public transport system.

-DD's Kosher Sandwiches can be bought in most major airports and stations and at some supermarkets around London.  Check here for a list of locations.

-Kosher in the West End/City -
Selfridges food hall has a variety of kosher groceries and prepackaged ready food by 1701.

-Minyan in the West End could be found at the Marble Arch Synagogue. Shacharis during the week is followed by breakfast, and a kiddush on Shabbos.

-Most food products in general stores do not have a hechsher on them. This does not necessarily mean they are not kosher. For example, Coca-Cola does not have a hechsher, but it is kosher. Here is an online kosher product search that could help. Link to Android app.

It is worth making it to Buckingham Palace for changing of the guards (11am) if possible. Walk over to Westminster Bridge to see Big Ben/The Houses of Parliament.  The London Eye could be interesting if the weather is nice, but is definitely expensive. Don't forget horse guards parade in Whitehall to get one of those pictures with the queens life guards.

As for food, Reuben's is a deli in the West End, and Isola Bella is a dairy/fish place in Westfield Mall near Shepherds Bush.

I take it that to get to the restaurants they are only a underground stop or few away? Thankfully I will have my good friend Mr. Google and his Maps along with me for the trip

Another question? If I'm flying in with American and my next flight is with El Al. Where should or can I lock up my hand baggage for the day while I go out?

i've been to Reuben's. Good "salt beef"  - what we americans would call corned beef. Other than that, eh.

Based on this?

I was in London for a couple days about 6 years ago and all I remember is being absolutely shocked at the cost of the restaurants.

My wife and I will be in London for just under a day. Here is our tentative schedule:

Arrive LHR ~ 6:30pm
Fleishig restaurant
Crash and chill at friends and relatives
Retaurant for breakfast near Golders Green (thinking Isola Bella because we need a place open before 9AM)
Trafalgar Square/Parliament/Big Ben
Changing of the Guards (Buckingham Palace)
Restaurant for lunch
Tower of London
LHR

What do you guys think about that schedule? Anything else that I will regret missing? Are there any other restaurants in Golders Green that open early? Also I need a recommendation for fleishig dinner. Thanks!
